"It's almost as if San Andreas is the game that Rockstar North had been waiting to make since the series was envisioned. Everything about it was lofty and expansive, but where other games allowed this to comprise the minute-to-minute gameplay, San Andreas let you bask in it at every possible moment. If you don't care about stat-tracking, then it won't matter to you when your handgun level reaches "Gangster." Likewise, if you can't be bothered to progress through the game's story, you'll have plenty of fun holding and conquering turf in Los Santos, not to mention indulging in the spats of emergence that will undoubtedly occur in between attacks." - Miguel, GameSpy
