Sony PlayStation 2

The PlayStation 2 (abbreviated as PS2) was Sony's second video game console, released worldwide in 2000. It followed the hugely successful PlayStation and eventually usurped its forerunner as the best-selling console of all-time with sales in excess of 145 million. The PS2's remarkable success easily won the sixth-generation console wars for Sony, outselling all of its competitors combined almost three times over. Likewise, it offered its consumers a wide-array of games, having perhaps the largest and most acclaimed gaming library ever assembled for a home console. It remains commercially available a decade after its initial release and still enjoys new titles.
