Microsoft Xbox 360

The Xbox 360 (abbreviated here as 360) is Microsoft's followup to the Xbox platform. It was made available globally in 2005. It was the first seventh generation console to be released. Thus far, the 360 has been a success for Microsoft, with its sales doubling that of its predecessor. However, its sales are still far behind the benchmark set by the PlayStation 2. Cross platform titles appear to be the trend that will come to define the seventh generation, with the 360 offering few notable exclusive games and even fewer new gaming franchises.
