Notably, this is one of the first lists to feature Minecraft, which is certain to secure a spot among the Acclaimed Video Games Top 200 at some point in the near future (although probably not in the next update). The PC Gamer Top 100 also features other new games that have been placing well on recent lists, such as StarCraft 2, Mass Effect 2, Neptune's Pride, and VVVVVV. However, it is not without its winningly esoteric picks, including the critic list debuts of 2010 titles like Supreme Commander 2 (a strong #29) and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat (#38), as well as Minecraft designer Notch's 2006 outing Wurm Online (#56). The list also has some love for trendy cult selections, like 2006's divisive Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth (#86) and Prince of Persia mastermind Jordan Mechner's lost classic The Last Express (#93). (As an aside, The Last Express was recently made available for download by online retailer DotEmu.) But at the top of the list, canon wins out, with Deus Ex securing the number one spot for the second year in a row. However, the list's biggest winners are Doom and Age of Empires II: Age of Kings, both of which failed to place in last year's outing, but now sit at a respectful #42 and #26, respectively. So go out and support print media and buy the latest issue of PC Gamer.
Update: The full list (with commentary) is now up at PC Gamer's website.
